The number of papers in machine learning and natural language processing (NLP) published every week has exploded in recent years (see arXiv.org for the most recent stats). As a someone interested in the space, this avalanche of advances can quickly feel overwhelming. Even for someone in the field, it is difficult to stay up-to-date and make sense of it all.

NLP News is a regular newsletter with my highlights from research and industry. In it, I analyze advances in research, contextualize new and exciting trends, and provide guidance on future directions.

About Me

I am Sebastian Ruder, a research scientist at Cohere (previously at Google DeepMind). I have published research papers in top ML and NLP venues. You might know me from my blog where I post long-form content on diverse topics such as gradient descent optimization algorithms, multi-task learning, and transfer learning, among others. I also invest in AI startups at the seed stage.
